About the Species

These common, gregarious animals live in family troops or small parties. Diurnal, they sleep at night in trees. Not strictly arboreal, they take readily to the ground in search of food and water, and are omnivorous. The call most often heard is a chatter and stutter, or a high-pitched squeal when in distress.

About the Hunt

Their senses are acute and they are constantly on the alert against predators such as leopard and the crowned eagle. The best hunting methods are spotting, and walking-and-stalking if an opportunity arises.

Habitat

They are found in a wide range of habitats, including tree and bush savanna, montane and riverine forest and coastal bush.
